AssoonastheyhadsaidgoodnighttotheProairsht,theboystothegirls'roomaalkeditover。

“It'sonlyabird,silly,”saidEdmund。

“Badgers!”saidLucy。

“Foxes!”saidEdmund。

“Nothingthere!”saidPeter,aroopedoutagaiLucy。Shestayedbehihoughtithiletryingthedoorofthewardrobe,eventhoughshefeltalmostsurethatitwouldbelocked。Tohersurpriseitopeeeasily,andtedout。

“Thismustbeasimplyenormouswardrobe!”thoughtLugstillfurtherinandpushifoldsofthecoatsasidetomakeroomforher。Theicedthattherewassomethinggu。“Iwomoremoth-balls?”shethought,stoopingdowhherhand。Butinsteadoffeelingthehard,smoothwoodofthefloorofthewardrobe,shefeltsomethingsoftandpowderyaremelycold。“Thisisveryqueer,”shesaid,aowofurther。
