我几乎等不及面试了。我所期待的终生职业正是这份检查官秘书的工作，而且多年的大学学习和所做的基层工作都是为了这个梦寐以求的职位。
明天就要面试了，为挑选合适的套装我花了两个小时的时间。我躺在柔软的**，望着天花板，难以入睡。我该对他说什么呢？我应该怎样表现呢？我闭上眼睛想休息一会，但我紧张得翻来覆去睡不着。
最后，闹铃叫醒了我。我想睁开眼睛，但有些不太对劲。我感到脸部僵硬，有些异样。我赶紧用手捏了捏脸。“不！”我的嘴唇怎样也张不开。我跑到浴室，看着镜中的自己，太可怕了。我的脸扭曲的就像是中风的病人，眼睛也斜到了一边，右边的脸已不能动弹了。我无法辨认自己，究竟出什么事了？我刚醒来又被卷入了怎样的梦魇？
这时妈妈走了进来，“出什么事了？”她恐慌的盯着我，往后退了一步。我口齿不清地问她：“我这是怎么了？”她气喘吁吁说：“我得马上带你去看急诊。”我们匆忙赶去医院。护士看了看我便叫来了医生，在耀眼的白炽灯光下我和母亲急切地等待着。
经过几个小时的化验，医生解释说：“你得了面部神经麻痹症，这是由于心理压力导致面部肌肉紧绷所造成的。你需要充分的休息，过几天你的脸就会恢复正常了。”我痛苦地说：“可是，我下午要参加面试。”“对不起。”医生关切的说，“你应该重新安排时间了，最好迟些天再去。”
在漫长的回家路上，我脑海里一直在想着重约时间会是怎样的不合适。那当然可能会让我失去机会，没有人会跟检查官重约时间。我最终总结道，这样其他所有的应聘者就会处于优势。
